Applause, like candy, is sweet to the taste—yet it always leaves you wanting more.
Have you ever received applause only to find yourself craving it again? That’s because applause is a poor motivator. It’s fickle, fleeting, and rarely satisfies for long. The performer must constantly outdo the last act to earn louder cheers. But what if we lived for a different kind of applause—one that doesn’t fade or falter?
What if we lived for the applause of heaven?
Does such applause even exist? Yes—but it isn’t found in the noise of a crowd. The applause of heaven is a mindset. It’s the pursuit of pleasing the One above rather than those around us. When we live for God’s approval, we find a deeper joy, a steadier affirmation. And ironically, when we focus on God’s pleasure in our efforts, we often receive earthly applause as a byproduct—not a goal.
