3 Coins

Every day, at midnight, we are each given three imaginary coins.
They cannot be saved. They cannot be carried over to tomorrow.
They can only be spent in the day we are in.

We have complete freedom to decide where those coins go.
Some will spend all three in one place—on work, parenting, or a single passion.
Others will spread them out—one on exercise, one on career, one on family.

The tension we all live with is this:
Will we spend our coins on what matters most—or waste them on what matters least?

It’s worth pausing to evaluate.
Are you investing your coins wisely?
Are you allowing others to pressure you into spending them in ways that don’t align with your values?
Maybe a friend keeps pushing you to join the gym, but that’s not where you want to invest.
Or perhaps someone invites you to volunteer for a cause that stirs your heart—that might be the perfect place to spend one.

Whatever you choose, choose intentionally. These coins matter.

May it be said of us that we invested our lives in what matters most.
And if you’re unsure where to spend today’s coins, take a walk through a cemetery.
Sit among those who have gone before and ask yourself:
When my coins are gone, what will have mattered?

Then—go spend wisely.
