Jeremiah 20:9 – “His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.”
There is a fire coming—one like we have not seen before.
It will be out of our control.
It will reshape landscapes, change the infrastructure of cities, and transform the human heart.
For as long as I’ve been alive, faith in Jesus Christ has often been treated as an accessory—marginal, an add-on, a lucky rabbit’s foot at best. Every now and then, I would meet people “on fire,” but they didn’t stay ablaze for long. The embers around them weren’t enough. Others—rare and radiant—burned from the inside out, fueled by something otherworldly, but they were few and far between.
I’ll admit—keeping the flame alive is hard. Some days I’ve gone cold, weeks at a time. And yet, without my doing, a fresh wind would come, and I’d feel the flame again. I cannot take responsibility. I believe it is the Holy Spirit, and I believe He has chosen me. I can’t explain it, but here I am—still walking with Jesus after all these years, when so many around me are not.
Tongues of Fire
I wonder—will this fire look like the one in Acts? When tongues of fire rested on the disciples, when thousands upon thousands surrendered their lives to Christ?
Because of the drought of faith and the dry, dead wood everywhere, I believe we are ripe for fire. And I believe it has already begun to burn.
What will you do when it comes to you?
- Will you pull out your water hose and extinguish it?
- Will you try to reason it away?
- Will you run from it or busy yourself to avoid it?
- Or will you let it consume you and transform you?
Don’t Look for It Elsewhere
The fire is coming.
Don’t look for it on social media.
Don’t look for it in the marketplace.
Don’t look for it on the news.
Look for it in your heart.
This move of God is already spreading—like one torch lighting another torch. It is catching everywhere. Don’t miss it.
Preparing for the Harvest
We must prepare for the fire. A great harvest is coming into the Kingdom of God—greater than we’ve ever seen. New believers will need shepherding, mentoring, and discipleship. They will need living rooms and kitchens to sit in, conversations around tables, spiritual mothers and fathers to guide them.
And as a Christian counseling practice, I believe we must prepare too. There will be an influx of people hungry for truth, healing, and hope like never before.
When the Fire Comes to Your Home
So, I ask you again:
What will you do when the fire comes to your home?
Will you extinguish it?
Or will you let it consume you?
