Write it Anyways

“Write It Anyways”

We only get one shot on planet earth.
At birth, we are handed a pen — and from that moment forward, we begin to write the story of our lives. Page after page, day after day, the ink flows.

Sometimes the pen is wrenched from our hands and others write upon our tablet. Yet ultimately, we are still given the opportunity — the sacred responsibility — to write.

Our stories are filled with pain and joy, tragedy and triumph, failure and growth. On these pages are etched moments of laughter and tears, depression and delight, despair and discovery.

But one thing always holds true: each of us has been given an opportunity.

As we reflect on one whose story has ended, their pages are no longer being written — they are being read. And as we read, we inherit a charge: to continue writing our pages in their honor.

Let us not take lightly this gift of life and authorship. What do we want written about us when our final chapter closes? It may sound somber, but it’s not. It’s wisdom.

There is wisdom in holding the reality of mortality close — in letting it shape our choices, our relationships, our purpose.
Stephen Covey once said, “Begin with the end in mind.” Today, as we honor the life of one who has gone before us, may we do the same.

Young or old, the question remains:
What are you writing today?
What will your legacy say tomorrow?
What will grow from the words you leave behind?

Write in honor of those who came before you — that great cloud of witnesses cheering you on.

God has given you this life and this pen.
He walks with you as a traveling companion and fights beside you as you resist the enemy of your soul.

Your story will be opposed — write it anyway.
Your story will pass through darkness — write it anyway.
Your story will taste glimpses of heaven — write it anyway.
