20 things I learned in 2020

  1. Experts sometimes don’t agree.
  2. A presidential race can turn at any moment.
  3. The word “pivot” is way overused.
  4. Normal has left the building.
  5. Losing a loved one will change you.
  6. Security is a myth.
  7. The church can meet in a drive-in theater.
  8. People will believe anything you tell them if enough other people believe it too.
  9. We don’t like being told what to do.
  10. If you aren’t operating online as a business you are a dead duck.
  11. We have a stubborn refusal to allow this pandemic to teach us.
  12. Shallow roots lead to toppled trees.
  13. Shallow people lead to toppled lives.
  14. Quarantine people for an extended period of time and they will make news happen.
  15. People will lose their minds if you mess with their sports.
  16. Our government can come up with billions of dollars for stimulus packages with no real way to pay for it.
  17. Faith over Fear is a cute yard sign that very few people actually know how to apply.
  18. My glasses fog up incessantly while wearing a mask.
  19. Who knew toilet paper was so valuable a commodity?!
  20. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
