Threshold of the Divine

Life hits differently when you grow up feeling unwanted. That hollowness makes bruising much easier. When the inside feels empty, even a single word can wound deeply.

The pressures, the pain, and the disappointments create an implosion. The self becomes mangled, marred, and disfigured. The absence of love. The absence of belonging. The absence of identity. The absence of security. Together, they create a vacuum that, unless it is filled, often becomes the birthplace of addiction.

A person begins medicating the ache, desperately trying to make the pain disappear. Not because they seek pleasure, but because pain has become their permanent state. They are simply searching for a little relief.

Yet this poverty of soul is often the threshold of the divine.

When a person finally recognizes the depth of their emptiness and acknowledges it as true, they become open to the One who alone can fill it. The Creator, Sustainer, and Life-Giver of the universe—the Spirit of the living God—comes to dwell within them.

Instead of addiction, He offers identity.
Instead of hangovers, He offers love.
Instead of disease, He offers life.

But perhaps His greatest gift is this: He declares us to be His own.

Identity is given.
Security is bestowed.
An inheritance is received.

And that is where life truly begins.
